First of all, allow me to be clear - Richard is an active and well-respected member of the community. His contributions and participation as a user are not in question. However, over the course of the last few weeks we have become convinced that he is not as well suited to being a moderator. I will do my best to explain how and why, although out of respect ...

We do have an issue with some over-popular works being, well, over-popular, but I don't see any need to explicitly bring race into it. It's definitely true that a few mega popular franchises like Harry Potter and Star Wars largely dominate the bulk of questions on the site. Back in 2016, I was actively working to promote some less popular and more obscure (...

What should the new background/theme look like? The decision asking if we wanted a new theme after the update was pretty unanimous and we collected some feedback on potential ideas for a new one. Almost two years later I think it's time we get the ball rolling again on this one.

I'd prefer periodic targeted Topics, corresponding to particular "events", i.e. popular movie releases, book releases, comic events, etc. A Topic a week or other regular time periods generally leads to a degradation of quality and/or a lack of motivation over time. Edit: Since this seems to be appealing, my suggestion on managing this would be to have a ...

On "community acceptance" Sorry, but this isn't going to happen. You're far from the first to propose it, but such a change would have to be made at a coding level by Stack Exchange staff, and as such (unless you really think it'd be a useful feature for this site specifically and not other SEs) should be proposed on main meta.1 If someone accepts a wrong, ...

Community bot bumps old posts with low views and no accepted answers occasionally. It doesn't change anything, it just wants to help you get more attention.

I am concerned that "the title controversy" was mentioned here, albeit just in a comment. This was NOT in ANY WAY the desired outcome, of my post questioning the moon landing title change, Should this be a clickbait site, or should we stand by SE standards of question quality? At most, I hoped for clarified policies: a learning opportunity, not a blame-and-...

Can we have relevant icons on tags? I'm well aware that tag icons are due to sponsorship, however, this older post asks about adding them outside of sponsorship. It would add a little flair to the site, a nice visual aide, on the tags to visually distinguish them better. Alternatively, and more on a discussion side if we don't just want them to look pretty, ...

Poking a random old question every hour is one of the functions Community performs. Since the question isn't actually changed, I don't think it's necessary to include "bumping" on the revision page.

Well, I hesitate to call it "massive amounts of attention". It comes up on occasion, there's a handful of lines in chat responding, and then it gets dropped. Have you noticed the troll seems to respond by posting to comments made about him/her? For example, if the troll is talked about in chat, does a post suddenly appear? I have not noticed a pattern like ...

Every so often the Community user will bump old questions. Quoting from its user profile: I do things like […] Randomly poke old unanswered questions every hour so they get some attention The only “modification” this involves is to change the last modified time in the database, and attribute an empty edit to the user. It doesn’t make any substantive ...

Can we have a per-tag "Make Spoilers Visible" button? Allowing users to opt in to automatically uncovering spoilers on posts which have a specific tag seems like it could be useful. If you're not bothered about spoilers on a particular work yourself, spoiler tags are only really a nuisance. Especially so when you get to a popular just released work ...

Ignored tag still shows up in HNQ? Spoilers, people don't like 'em. HNQ + spoilers, well we're just asking for trouble there. A request was made a while back to make it so ignored tags don't show up in the HNQ. This seems like a good middle ground between blocking the whole HNQ or putting up with spoilers. We're always going to have people complaining about ...

Can we add a way to allow tags to be marked as dependent upon other tags? Our whole tagging system is a mess relies heavily on tag hierarchies. Other tags are dependant on each other and so if a question has tag 1 then it should also have tag 2 on it. This would require a major overhaul of the basics of how tags work, however, it would make the system a lot ...

Add support for tables This one seems like it would be quite useful and was popular. We also moved to CommonMark now and so it should be possible there. If not MathJax could be enabled for its usage (I believe it has tables but not entirely sure). Lastly, Arqade mentions support for tables also, so whilst this is a SE level change rather than SFF I think it ...

I prefer a Topic of the Month, as it allows a slower pace to the competition where we can spend longer on a topic, and would allow one sole person to maintain it more easily.

of our top franchises, only the comics franchises and Star Trek have had a work with a primary protagonist who was not white Heinlein had a primary protagonist who was not white before it was cool with the "I need to feel socially useful" white progressives who now want to seem all cool. In other words, there are definitely top franchises/authors on our ...

Schedule I propose a modified topic of the Bi-Week, similar but not identical to Keen's suggestion: every other two weeks (that is two weeks with contest and then two weeks without). I would call it Topic of the Month, at four weeks are roughly a month (we could start the new topics on the first day of a given month). Rules Additionally, winners (and I think ...

"I prefer not doing Topic of the insert time period. It invites posting low-quality questions in an effort to get into the ballot so that you have a chance to win." This is not the same as Slytherincess's post, which is about being indifferent.

I am actually fairly indifferent as to whether or not Topic of the Week/Biweek/Month continues. I think it's fine if we continue with it; I think it's equally fine if we let questions roll in more organically. I did like getting a prize the one week I won (Star Wars), but I would have fun competing for points and props just as much.
