I recently noticed that we have a tag with 26 questions. Glancing through the list:

Do we need this tag at all? If so, which questions should we be using it on?

    Just deserts? Not rainforests or anything? – Molag Bal Apr 29 '17 at 0:30

    While we're at it, why don't we end crime as well? – Gallifreyan Apr 30 '17 at 19:46

    Hmm. I stand corrected; en.wiktionary.org/wiki/just_deserts – Valorum Apr 30 '17 at 20:16

Burninate it.

I can't think of anyone who would come here and use this tag to find questions about villains; and it seems that this tag wasn't applied correctly anyway.

From another perspective, it's unlikely that this tag will attract experts, or even enthusiasts (though I'm ready to stand corrected on this one).

It's one of those tags - along with or or or - that seem to make sense, but in reality are not useful at all, unless used for questions about the concept of villains/superheros/superpowers/abilities/etc.

Just clean the tag to give it a swift and painless death.

    Bellatrix would! – Edlothiad Apr 30 '17 at 15:49
  • Yeah, I would use the tag to find questions about villains. :) – Arya May 9 '17 at 14:57
  • Burnination in progress ... – Rand al'Thor Jun 21 '17 at 14:28
  • Burnination complete! – Rand al'Thor Jun 25 '17 at 13:04

Keep it

is one of dozens of tags about concepts that this site applies inconsistently, at the tagger's whim. They add a bit of flavo[u]r to the tagging system, are sometimes helpful, and aren't hurting anything. We could start a massive retagging effort to purge all the tags deemed unworthy, or we could just gaze at the tag map and be happy.

I'd rather focus our retagging efforts on things like fixing inconsistent usage of franchise and series tags (which Valorum is working on at the moment, it seems) or removing tags that are genuinely confusing. seems clear enough, and harmless, even if it's being used inconsistently.

  • I can perhaps see your point about flavour... But do we really want this kind of flavour? Say, I see no point in having love around, and I don't see how it adds flavour. – Gallifreyan Apr 30 '17 at 21:49

    Figures that the Daedric Prince of domination and enslavement would vote to keep a tag about people as evil as him! – Thunderforge May 2 '17 at 1:44

    @Thunderforge I'm not evil, I'm just misunderstood. OK, maybe I'm a touch evil. – Molag Bal May 2 '17 at 1:45
